Canvas Prints: Built to Endure

We have been making beautiful, professional-grade canvas prints for over 20 years, and in that time, we’ve experimented with our framing materials in search of perfection. We found it in the form of hand-selected, US-grown lumber. Each piece is inspected for consistent structure and optimal durability.

We hand-stretch each canvas print, ensuring an ideal “drum-like” tightness that won’t sag or warp. Even our concealed staples were chosen for their durability and consistency. Just like your artwork, every detail in a Prolab Digital print is perfectly in place.

The Final Product: Your Masterpiece

We take great care in helping you bring your work to life, and we are confident that every piece we print will meet your needs and exceed your expectations. Your images are guaranteed to become an instant classic in any space with our canvas prints and will last a lifetime with beautiful colors, seamless texture, and durable structure.

Canvas Print FAQS

Should a canvas print be framed?

Canvas prints look amazing with or without a frame. Our 1.5” thick stretcher bars create a sophisticated floating effect so your frame-less print can speak for itself in any indoor environment.

Does a canvas print fade?

We can’t say the same for other companies, but our canvas material and inks are rated to last over 100 years indoors. We use the highest quality archival inks and the thickest acid-free, artist-grade canvas that money can buy.

What is the difference between canvas and acrylic prints?

Although acrylic prints are growing in popularity, canvas photo prints are definitely more popular and widely used. While acrylic prints achieve a sleek contemporary look, canvas prints are a classic choice for interior design and home decor. Acrylic prints offer a glossier, reflective look, and canvas prints give an organic feel. Both choices are excellent for either type of space.

What is a mirrored canvas?

A mirrored canvas can also be called a mirrored edge or a mirrored wrap. A mirrored canvas is one of the more popular effects in canvas wrapping (particularly with photographs), where the last one to two inches (depending on the depth of the stretcher bars used) of the image are "mirrored" and wrapped over the to create a seamless appearance on all the sides of the canvas. Mirroring, instead of simply stretching the image itself and wrapping it, creates an eye-catching reflection-like effect and ensures that no portion of the image is lost on the front side of the canvas. In contrast, classically stretched canvases take a portion of the original image and continue it around the sides.

What is stretched canvas?

A stretched or image-wrapped canvas is when the image wraps around the sides of the canvas. This effect, while providing a seamless continuation in color and composition around the wrapped edges, causes you to lose a portion of the image on the front side of the canvas (approximately one to two inches, depending on the stretcher's width bar).

What is the difference between stretched and unstretched/rolled canvases?

A stretched canvas print means that the image has been wrapped around the edge of a custom-sized wood frame, while an unstretched or rolled canvas picture print is simply the image printed on a flat canvas without the frame. Typically, customers that choose a rolled canvas want to make their own frame or ship their art. However, if that is not the case, we recommend the stretched canvas print option as your artwork arrives professionally finished and ready to hang on the wall immediately.

How much does a canvas print cost?

Cost depends on varying factors, including the size of the photo and canvas, whether the canvas is stretched or rolled, and whether lamination options are chosen. Lamination options include gloss and matte. Lamination adds a protective layer that allows for easy cleaning and UV protection.

What does matte liquid lamination on canvases do?

Matte liquid laminate brings a softer look to your photo with the added benefit of additional protection and durability. Expect an additional five years of protection against fading when indoors.

What does Gloss Liquid Lamination on canvases do?

Gloss liquid laminate adds vibrancy to your photo with the added benefit of additional protection and durability. Expect an additional five years of protection against fading when indoors.

What is a panoramic canvas photo print?

A panoramic canvas is a beautiful canvas print displaying a wide-format photo. These prints have the ability to transport you with stunning, sweeping color, making them perfect for displaying landscapes, cityscapes, and many other styles of art. They work best in open areas such as over a sofa, fireplace, or bed.

I want my photo split into multiple pieces. Can you do this?

Splitting canvas is a very popular way to achieve massive photo prints at an economical price point. Generally called a dyptique (photo split into two) or triptych (photo split into three), you can spread one image across multiple pieces. While our website does not support this type of order, please call us for help at 310.846.4496.

What about alternatives to Canvas?

If you're looking for alternative ways to show off your photo prints besides canvas, Prolab Digital offers a range of professional-quality printing options. Our metal prints provide an alternative, modern feel with the same gallery-quality look and incredible durability. Check out our HD Infused Metal, or UV Direct styles and choose the best fit.

If you're looking to experience your image in vibrant, glossy 3D, try our acrylic prints to achieve a polished style.
